Action Plan:
The Martinus Mitchum Foundation will accomplish this mission by delivering vital resources directly to students and families in need. The media (television, internet & radio) will be used as communication and technical training tools thus sparking the engagement of individuals in the community to give of their time, talent, and resources.
Giving Back Campaigns are coordinated throughout the year to encourage others to help those in need. The campaigns are donation drives that will provide resources and the necessities for individuals and families.
The Martinus Mitchum Foundation works diligently to provide resources for low-income families, especially our youth. Mitch believed that "Education is the key to success." Unfortunately, many students attend school under challenging circumstances and need support. Many need to overcome obstacles of economic distress, domestic instability, and a lack of resources. "The Mitch Way" is designed to help students be successful in their academic course of study while engaging, empowering, and stabilizing families as they build brighter futures.
We can present possibilities; It just takes you.

Tulane Police, FBI NA and FBI New Orleans will be partnering annually to bring this week-long law enforcement and legal training overnight camp for select youth throughout Louisiana.
“This youth camp is dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Martinus Mitchum who dedicated his life to education and public service. We hope to invoke his passion for youth and service by exposing Louisiana students to a wide cross-section of law enforcement as well as the Tulane campus.”

Mary L.H. Laurie
PROFESSIONAL mentor
For nearly four decades, Mary L.H. Laurie educated hundreds of young people throughout the city of New Orleans. After teaching young minds in the classroom and serving as an administrator in New Orleans Public School system, she served as the principal at Guste Elementary, Carter G. Woodson Middle, O. Perry Walker High School, and Landry-Walker High School, respectively. Throughout her tenure her focus was " ..the students who, [as she would passionately say], come through the doors, not those we wish we had or those we think we should have… [for], when we truly believe in children: we can not miseducate them, we can not under educate them, and, above all, we can not not educate them!!!"
